When I obtained my callsign ZL4KJ, I instantly ran in to an issue when it came to my logging software. In the fact I couldn't update my callsign on log entries to reflect the new callsign.
This meant I had to do a quick google search to figure out if it was possible to update the callsign on the software's license or if I had to purchase it all over again. Not looking forward to having to re-purchase it I was pleasantly surprised that I could put in a support ticket to have my callsign changed.
Well, this should have been a quick and easy process, and it was in the fact that the support staff at Ham Radio Deluxe did in fact change my callsign in a matter of hours of requesting it.
Thinking sweet, I'm back in with Ham Radio Deluxe, I can setup a new log for the new callsign on my SQL Server.
That's when it all turned to custard.
Entered my new callsign in to the software and bang this dialog started to go around in circles for what appeared no apparent reason.
No matter what the heck was entered here, the thing just looped through and I could only ever click Cancel or Deactivate and the software would close.
Thinking maybe there is something cuckoo with the installation I ripped Ham Radio Deluxe out and re-installed. Still no luck, same thing.
Fresh install on my Laptop, same problem. Ok, this is frustrating. Ripped it out again and got heavy handed with it's registry entries too. Still no luck.
Starting to regret this now.
Informed Ham Radio Deluxe support and posted screenshots of the dialog.
A couple of days later, a new support tech has been assigned, ok my support ran out in 2018 don't know if this will eventuate to much.
But as it turns out. Ferry (PD9FER) after doing a remote support and pretty much doing what I had done left scratching his head.
What the heck is going on here. It's authenticating the callsign to the license but don't let it run.
Ferry had planned to do another remote session in a week, however after digging through their end found an erratic space on my callsign on their server.
Somewhere along the line I or someone had a trailing space that was causing the issue.
Yay, Ham Radio Deluxe authenticates and runs and I can now log with it using my new callsign..
So, Thank you to the team at Ham Radio Deluxe for going above and beyond in helping get this sorted.
Although I don't currently have a support subscription, I will be adding one in the near future to help the team out, even though I doubt I will need it again now.
So, If you are looking for decent rig control with logging and a second to none support desk, you can't go past Ham Radio Deluxe. It is worth every penny and I am glad I inadvertently put their support to the test. It just proves I made the correct decision in purchasing Ham Radio Deluxe to begin with.
